James Madison University Partners with ACS Athletics
James Madison University, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), has selected ACS Athletics InControlTM software as a student-athlete life-cycle management solution. With InControlTM, the Dukes have taken a holistic approach to solving many of the day to day challenges associated with recruiting, compliance monitoring, roster management, student-athlete forms, practice logs, Playing and Practice Season tracking, complimentary admissions, and much, much more. In taking a department-wide approach, JMU coaches and administrative staff will realize benefits on a broad scale, eliminating many of the paper-driven processes and condensing prospect and student-athlete information into one integrated system.
“We are excited about the potential that ACS has to offer our coaching staff, not only as a top notch recruiting tool but also the ability to manage their current student-athletes, as well,” said Jennifer Phillips, Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. “The potential that the ACS system offers our department in sharing information in a centralized location is endless. The benefit of going paperless for student-athlete forms and recruiting paperwork submitted within the system by coaching staff is immeasurable. This will give us, as a Compliance Staff, the opportunity to focus our attention on other areas,“ Phillips said.
JMU has joined a growing list of institutions that are electing to solve challenges on a broader scale, noting the department-wide benefits of using a single software platform to manage the student-athlete life-cycle. With 18 sports and over 400 student-athletes, managing critical information can be quite a challenge. With InControlTM, JMU will retain an electronic record of every activity associated with each student-athlete from the time he or she completes an online questionnaire as a prospect, until graduation and beyond. Not only will coaches and staff members have access to review this information as needed and in real time, but it will be accessible to generate reports and identify historical trends. In addition, ACS InControlTM will allow JMU to meet or exceed industry standards in monitoring recruiting, playing and practice season logs, complimentary admissions and more.
“From a compliance view point, I believe that ACS will help our office work more effectively and efficiently, as well as assist with the workload of collecting and sharing information,” Phillips said. “I am also confident that as we roll out each of the modules the system offers, it will provide the same results for our sports programs as well as our administrative team.”
